About the Business
The business was started by Jack Segal a time served watchmaker. As well as repairing watches he started to buy scrap gold and silver. He extracted some items of jewellery, repaired them and offered them for sale. This was the beginning of a successful business. His son Maurice, on leaving the Army joined the business in 1947. However Maurice had a particular interest in Antique and secondhand jewellery and he developed this side of the business with great success. Maurice found that he couldn't buy enough secondhand and Antique jewellery to stock his shop and over 40 years ago started buying new jewellery as well! His passion for buying and selling Antique, secondhand jewellery became the Segal's as we are today. Maurice sadly passed away in October 2011 but his spirit is still very much alive in the business today.
Maurices wife, Shirley, looks after the accounts and her son Mathew and daughter Joanne manage the day to day running of the business which has expanded extensively.
